Neftaly Long-Term Maintenance of Prosthetic Hands
- Cleaning:
Wipe down the external surfaces with a soft cloth and mild soap solution. Avoid submerging in water unless the device is specifically waterproof. - Socket Hygiene:
Clean the socket (where the prosthesis connects to the limb) daily to prevent skin irritation or infection. - Check for Debris:
Inspect joints, sensors, and grip areas for dust, dirt, or foreign objects that could affect function.
2. Weekly Maintenance
- Battery Check (for powered prosthetics):
Fully charge and discharge the battery at least once per week if not used daily. Inspect battery contacts for corrosion or damage. - Functional Testing:
Test all movement functions (grip strength, finger articulation, wrist rotation, etc.) to ensure responsiveness. - Inspect Straps and Liners:
Check for wear and tear on harnesses, straps, or liners
